Billy Elliot Auditions

We are holding auditions for the role of DEBBIE in Billy Elliot the Musical on Saturday 30th July in Newcastle.

We would like to see any girls aged between 10 and 12, under 4ft 8 who live in the North East and have some ballet experience. Check out the show at: www.billyelliotthemusical.com

Attached you will find a form ***please email sytg for a copy of the form: BE@sytg.co.uk , please complete and email back to me with a photo. I will start booking in girls in July and will give you all audition info then, please do not panic if you don’t hear from me straight away! We will work on a first come first serve basis and any girls we do not see this time I will save on file for the next time we are in Newcastle.

SYTG PA Quiz Night

A big thank you to everyone who attended the SYTG Quiz night this June. This was a great mix of entertainment provided by our young performers and intellectual challenges presented by Steve.

Despite some of the "less young" people complaining that the music round was too modern for them -

it was 2 minutes into the round before I realised that there was more than one song!

Everyone had a fantastic time - who could forget the Doctor, Doctor jokes!!!
We have also managed to raise over £300 for charity - Top Job!

SYTG PA On The Air!

Last weekend SYTG PA were again invited to join in with Auckland Hospital Radio Marathon Weekend. Members of SYTG PA performed live in the radio studios, entertaining people in hospital across the North.

Cheque Presentation

Thank you to Durham Police and Fire Service who have given SYTG PA a donation from money raised at the Bonfire Night Firework Display. This is very much appreciated and will go along way to help us provide the service we do for all young people within Durham and Darlington.

SYTG PA - Achieves Investing in Children Status

SYTG PA is proud to announce that after several months of assessment we have achieved the

Investing in Children Status. This award indicates that we put the young people of our group first and continue to develop based on their opinions and needs.

What is Investing in Children?

Investing in Children is an organisation concerned with the human rights of children and young people. This means asking questions about the way children and young people are treated in society. Where it is clear that the rights of children and young people are being

ignored, Investing in Children works to support children and young people themselves, and adults, to challenge and change situations.

Where did Investing in Children come from?

In 1995, a group of senior managers of public services in County Durham got together to discuss finding a new way to provide services to children, young people and their families. They were worried about a number of things. There was a very negative image of children and young people in the media - they were most often presented as a 'problem' for adults to manage. The various agencies which provide services to children and young people worked separately, when it would be more sensible if they could work together. Some children and young people were being left out, despite efforts to include everyone. And, most importantly, we weren't paying enough attention to what children and young people themselves had to say about things. The outcome of these discussions was the Investing in Children Statement of Intent. The aim is for groups to allow members to have a say in improving and creating opportunities for their futures.

Way back in February of this year Bernie Stock from Investing in children made several visits to SYTG. His job was to decide weather we would qualify for membership to this scheme.

He looked at our work and talked with members and committee representatives. Following this he sent us a written evaluation of his opinions of our organisation. Having read this we decided that it was a fair and accurate account of what we do and what we are all about. Bernie then recommended that we should be awarded membership.

We have now been awarded this status and will be able to use the recognised logo on our website and correspondence.

We hope to have a presentation of the official certificate in the near future.
